Day 5: Half Way There!

I'm drinking my coffee black this morning... against my will. I forgot to pick up some milk last night arg! I did get some organic chard, kale, kiwi, honeycrisp apples, and cucumber though! Which made for a fantastic dinner, mmmmmmm. I love coffee, most of you know that, but black coffee just doesn't cut it for me. It could be that milk actually brings out the flavor in coffee, wouldn't that be cool. The tempation to indulge in junk food is starting to go away, which is great. I felt like the last few days after work, I had to pry myself out of the store with a crowbar before I bought something.

So, got accepted to CWU, which is awesome but then I found out that I need to put down a $100 deposit, that's carazay! Oh well. I remember when moving to WSU it cost me tons, a lot more than that. There's 56 DAYS left till I depart the small town of Pullman. I gotta say, the last six months were sure a lot better than the first six. With work and a bunch of awesome work buddies, along with school, I don't find myself sitting at home bored so much anymore.

Well, ya'll have a good day now,
Jack L.

Day 3: Movin' right along

Made it through day two on to day three WAHOOOO! Yesterday wasn't as hard as day one, but I was certainly challenged by some reese's peanut butter cups. One of the Halloween bags of candy at work split open and that wonderful smell went everywhere. I don't eat candy because it just makes me feel sick, but when your hungry, the smell of reese's is like the best thing on earth. Thankfully, got out of the store without succumbing to the all hallows eve temptation.

I have successfully out maneuvered the virus that is haunting everyone these days, and I believe it's all thanks to the sheer magnitude of the volume of micronutrients that I am consuming on a daily basis. I'm going to start adding green tea to my daily regiment as it contains tons of health benefits. It's all about giving you body the right weapons and tools to defend itself. Now I know some of you out there just plain don't get sick, and some of us get sick constantly. I guess I'm right in the middle somewhere. I usually get a cold once a quarter (or every three months). So back when I was at community college, when I hadn't been sick since the last term, it was about time for me to get sick, and sure enough, before the end I would catch something. But these days I'm going strong, all thanks to the power of vegetables and fruits.

Day 2: Arrrrgggg

Well... yesterday was quite the challenge. It's hard to live on vegetables (and coffee) alone. I came soooo close to eating some macronutrient food (anything that's not vegetables essentially). But the good news is I made it through and I'm on to day two WOOT! We'll see how this goes. It usually takes awhile to get out of the habit of your normal diet. Day four is usually the marker when the cravings start going away... but getting there is the challenge. Onward gents!

Day 1: Vegetables Alone?

So, for the next ten days, I shall be consuming nothing but VEGETABLE-FRUIT SMOOTHIES/JUICE! Why you ask, would I do something so absurd? Vegetables are extremely important! They contain micronutrients which are crucial too keeping us from getting colds and flus.... and fruit tastes good. Not to mention this is an excellent way to lose weight because your still getting all of your nutrients and enough food to keep your metabolism work but your consuming very few calories. Now, why in the form of smoothies? Quiet simply, it's tastes super good in that form. Can you imagine trying to eat some beat, four stalks of celery, two handful of chopped carrots two handfuls of spinach and a banana? It would take too long and it wouldn't taste all that good, but if you blend it together and drink it instead, it tastes AMAZING! I've already been doing this for the last three weeks, and been around tons of sick people both at work and school, but I'm almost certain because of the sheer amount of vegetables I've been eating I haven't been getting sick. There is one exception to this vegetable/fruit only ten day challenge... I need my morning coffee which contains some milk... so... that's how that's going to go...

Se ya'll,
Jack L.

The grass is greener...

Well, it looks like my time here at WSU is nearing an end. Come December 30th, I must remove my person from this residence and head for better and brighter things. Once I get there I'm planning on studying law and justice. I thought about the only class that ever really inspired me all the way through till the bitter end (and believe me, on the semester system - after siting in the same class for nearly five months - it is the bitter end), was my business law. We didn't discuses business that much, it was basically an introductory law class. I was amazed and loved nearly every moment of it. I've been in college for nearly 3 years (if you include all of my summer terms it's closer to four), and this has been the only course that really sparked such a deep interest as to pursue further study of the subject. Although... I'm going into this knowing full well that, the grass is greener on the other side... till you get there. There are some some concrete differences though that will be better weather the grass is a brighter shade of green, or not. The fact that it's 3.5 hours closer to home, is on the quarter system, and only has 10,000 students, makes a world of difference in and of itself.

What shall I miss most about WSU, eh? Ha! Let's look at it differently; What shall I miss most about Pullman? Safeway. I know it's crazy, but in reality, my coworkers have made my time in Pullman rather pleasant. Where would I have been with out such a wonderful occupation...

Sincerely,
Jack L.

Buon giorno!

October is here folks! Ya'll know what that means, the holidays are right around the corner! Pumpkin pie and turkeys will be devoured and presents opened. (Oh snap! I even bought eggnog today!) Now, to my good friends on the other side of the state. I imagine that you are feeling the effects of fall "befalling" you, eh? Sadly in Pullman, summer is still holding on with it's claws, but soon it will (hopefully) succumb to colder temperatures.

I wish you all a wonderful month, enjoying those quiet, and sometimes not, moments of the season that truly typify autumn. Weather it be sitting next to a warm fire with your feet up, sipping on a warm cup of pumpkin spice tea, spending days at the corn maze, chasing your kids around in the cool October sun, or decorating your house with ghouls and goblins. May it be another year of cherished fall memories.

Sincerely,
Jack L.

Moving

My guhness! It's been over a month since my last post. Well peeps, this is my current situation. My weariness of living so far from home, my dislike of the semester system, and the complications of a massive university has brought me to reconsider my choice of colleges. A few weeks ago I came to the conclusion that I need to transfer to a smaller school... on the quarter system.

So, with a recent proposition from a good friend of mine I shall be transferring my person (and my household iTems) to CWU. Which puts me in a school of 10k in a town of 11k on the quarter sytem, only 3.5 hours from home!

See Ya'll later,
Mr. Lewis
