Nightmare & Optical Anomaly

Nightmare!
So last night, I had my first nightmare, it was crazy. I know, people have nightmares all the time - but I don't! When I finally woke up I was freaked out. I seriously thought this dream was real! I can't recall much, but what I do remember goes as follows:
I was staying in this apartment for some reason, sort of a cross between mine and my brothers old place. It was at night (of course *roll of the eyes*) and lit a lot like the picture on the right here. While watching a movie and falling asleep in my bed I heard these noises coming from the kitchen. I cracked the door open and glanced out to see what was going on. There were these two little girls clamoring around out there that were both straight out of a horror movie. As a side note, I don't watch horror movies, and especial nothing that would have freaky little girls in it. Eventually they started attacking me... then I don't know what happened.
I've never been so relieved in my entire life to be released from the clutches of unconsciousness! After thinking about it, we had quite the windstorm last night which caused quite a ruckus outside. This probably affected my dreams, creating little girls to come terrorize me.

Moving along...

Optical Anomaly
So in about the last week or so, I've been having some weird eye anomalies. When I turn my eyes suddenly, or turn my whole head - essentially when I completely change my line of sight, randomly I'll get this... spray of light, between one and four times in a day. It looks like the two images here. The first image has just a black background so you can see exactly what I'm trying to describe. The next image has a background so you can see the anomaly in context. This morning I made an appointment to go see a doctor about this as these "flashes," or whatever you want to calm them, have been increasing with regularity. So when I drove up, I saw the sign said, "Optometrist" *sigh*

So I walk in and ask, just to make sure that this guy is just an Optometrist. Sure enough he was. Thankfully, the receptionist was kind enough to direct me to the nearest Opthamologist.

What's the difference you ask, why is it so important to go to a Opthamologist instead of an Optometrist? Well an Optometrist examines the eyes for defects in vision and eye disorders in order to prescribe corrective lenses. Where as an Opthamologist specialize in the anatomy, function, diseases of the eye and prevention of blindness, among many other things.

So, who would you want to go to if your worried about losing your vision: Someone who can skillfully prescribe you glasses, or someone who understands how to prevent you from going blind? Well you learned your lesson for the day kids =D

Anyway, so I got an appointment to see this opthamologist on Monday, I'll keep ya up to date on what happens. Now I'm going to go study my new book on reformed theology

Sincerely,
Jack

Jack Who?!?!

Jack Lewis of course! I mean come on, who else? So I figure it's about time I start blogging, since so many buddies of mine have been. Daily Ponderations is of course going to be about... daily ponderations. With such a wonderfully vague title, I can pretty much talk about anything ;D hehehehe

So, where do I stand? What's going on? Well, you can to refer to my profile description if you would like to have a brief synopsis, or keep reading for those wonderful details we all look for in good books =D

Right now, I'm tackling the obligations of both work and school which worked out quite well until... I decided to take a statistics course :S. Oh to my horror what a pickle I was in. At first, as most classes do, it seemed easy, but as the weeks progressed, there was no way. I quickly asked my manager if he could cut my hours so I could have more time to study. Thankfully, I'm only working 23 hours a week. Now here's the crazy part. So i'm up till  one in the morning studying for the test (which was the next day) then I get up at six to keep studying. The whole time focusing on all of these hard problems that the instructor talked about in class. I go to take the class and the problems were so rudimentary and simple that I barely understood how to do them! I still don't know how I did, but I'm concerned. It twas the most perplexing thing!

Student by morning... Safeway checker by afternoon/night. That's right, I'm a bonafide Safewayonian. I started working there about two months ago. It's a pretty good gig, or is it more... like a career maybe? Get this, both the manager and assistant manager called  me into their office and told me that I could be a manager one day. Hmmm, sounds good I thought. The alternative was to become a programmer... I have a great dislike for programming. There simply no way that I could do that. It's too boring, and you have to work 70+ hours a week! This conflicts with the true goal of my life. To get married and have a family, and I can't very well take care of them if I'm never home. Managers make about 90k and works about 40 hours a week - IN PULLMAN! Yeah, I was pretty much sold on this idea immediately. Also, you can work where ever there is a Safeway =D. Once I get my MBA It'll be really easy to move up to regional manager or even corporate.

Ultimately though, God leads and I'm willing to follow. He has a better plan for my life than I can dream up. We just have to be open to His will in our lives. Honestly, I have no idea what I want to do with my life as far as a career goes, and I'm praying that God will guide me in this. Although, there is one thing that I wholeheartedly desire God to work into his plan, a family.

Sincerely,
Jack Lewis
